Nonprofits based in the United States. You connect a US Stripe account, which needs your organization's EIN. Receipts include IRS tax acknowledgment language when your organization certifies it is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) and the gift qualifies; other US nonprofits send receipts without that language. Organizations outside the United States cannot use DonatoTomato.
Use our WordPress plugin for a floating button or inline form. On Squarespace, Wix, Webflow or an HTML site, add the embed code. See the setup guide for the steps.
DonatoTomato charges a flat 1% platform fee per donation, including monthly gifts, with no monthly fee, no setup fee and no long-term commitment. Stripe processing fees are additional; card and bank payments have different rates, and your connected Stripe account determines the actual fees. A monthly gift also carries Stripe's own fee for running the repeating charge, billed to your Stripe account. See the treasurer brief for worked card examples and Stripe's published price for monthly gifts, and your Stripe dashboard for your account pricing.
Yes. DonatoTomato supports US bank account gifts (ACH), both one-time and new monthly gifts. Email hello@donatotomato.com to enable bank gifts for your organization. We will help you confirm the required Stripe bank-email setting before switching them on. Existing recurring gifts are not automatically moved to a bank account.
Donations are processed directly in your own connected Stripe account. DonatoTomato never holds your funds. Bank gifts can take several business days to complete; payouts to your bank follow your Stripe account's schedule after funds become available. You will need a Stripe account to receive gifts.
Completed gifts trigger a branded receipt email. You can also generate annual giving statements, ready to email or print. Tax acknowledgment language depends on your organization's eligibility and the gift details. A bank payment still being verified or processed is not a completed gift; its status notice is not a tax receipt.
No. Donors are never asked to tip DonatoTomato. Your organization pays DonatoTomato a flat 1% platform fee; Stripe's own fees are separate. The only optional add-on is an estimated processing contribution, chosen by the donor and never pre-selected.
Yes. When enabled for a campaign, donors can choose an optional estimated processing contribution. It is never pre-selected. The same card-rate estimate is used for both card and bank gifts, so it may differ from the actual Stripe fee. Our 1% platform fee and Stripe processing fees still apply.
Yes. Donors open a secure giving-management link from their email to update their payment method or cancel future monthly gifts, with no account or password to create. A replacement bank account may need verification before it can be applied to future gifts. Canceling future gifts does not stop a bank debit already submitted.
